There are numerous stories of compassion, support and encouragement in each jurisdiction...Here are just a few...
*A current mentee recently passed his GED exam. He had been working with his mentor for months to prepare. Their hard work and commitment paid off! They are now going to focus their attention on the mentee finding employment.
*A mentee, who was recently released from PRC, has secured employment. His mentor has helped him to remain dedicated to his job search through weekly meetings spent filling out applications, meeting with potential employers and searching the internet and paper for prospects. This mentee reports being so happy to begin working again. He also remains clean and sober and continues to reside in an Oxford House in the area.
*One mentee is happy to report that her reading skills continue to improve. Her mentor has helped her to work on her literacy skills since they began meeting in June of 2009. This mentee describes the joy of recognizing words that she used to guess.
*A mentor accompanied a mentee to visit his sick and aging mother in a nursing home in PG County. They hadn’t seen each other for quite some time and the reunion was described as extremely special. Needless to say, the mentee will continue to remain in closer contact with his mother from now on.
